My Likes and Loves for June 2018

Hi everyone! This is my monthly happy post where I list the things I have liked and loved. It’s all thanks to A Cornish Mum for creating a link party stemming from her own monthly likes & loves lists!

MY LIKES AND LOVES – June 2018

♥ Our new slow cooker ♥
I’ve been wanting a slow cooker for AGES. Ages, I tell you! My family has always made good use out of them, and I swear Ma’s Crock Pot is over forty years old and probably still works, wherever it is. We found this big one on offer at Amazon! I was so excited, I immediately grabbed an ebook with over 1,000 slow cooker recipes.

♥ Staunton Harold & the Ferrers Centre ♥
Our weekend with Jon’s parents and going on an outing with them was so wonderful! Inspiring artisan wears, good food, new bath stuff on a flamingo theme (naturally), and exploring the estate and gorgeous old church.

♥ Learning to knit ♥
IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING! Honestly, every time I’ve attempted to learn to knit, I’ve gotten so frustrated and decided it must not be for me. But this time, I’ve been determined to show those needles who’s boss. And by Jove, I’m winning!

♥ Leicester ComicCon ♥
I’d been anticipating this event for months, and it was so worth it. It’s held at the Athena, which is about a three minute walk from our flat, so it was wonderfully convenient! I had so much fun exploring, participating in geekery, and talking with fellow artists. Maybe I should start going to more conventions!

♥ A nice chai latte ♥
There’s not much else I love more than a big, cinnamon-doused cup of chai latte. I hadn’t had one in a while, so when Jon and I had dinner at Crafty Burger one day, I had one and enjoyed it as we ate outside in the warm breeze and shade.

♥ My (early) birthday present ♥
Can I tell you how many years it’s been since I’ve had somewhere proper to put all my makeup and skincare? Too long, I tell you! I had plenty of space in the bathroom of my first home in Canada, but other than that I haven’t had a designated spot since I got rid of my nice, ash blonde wood desk/vanity in mid-2006. We’d planned to try to find a dressing table for me for my birthday, but one caught my eye sooner than expected on Facebook Marketplace. An hour later and it was delivered to us! Yay!!

♥ A vegan pop-up menu happening inside The Fish and the Chip ♥
For four days, this on-trend restaurant was renamed The Plant and the Bean as it served up interesting meals, sides, cocktails and mocktails. Jon and I lean toward vegetarianism, but we also enjoy creative vegan bites, so this was a rather fun experience. I loved my VERY green burger!

♥ Seeing our friends get married in Las Vegas ♥
Simon and Holly have been travelling the western US this month, and got married in a lovely Vegas chapel. The event was recorded live, and being able to watch them get married over three thousand miles away was amazing. I wish we’d had that option when we got married in Toronto!

What’s been great about your June?

That dressing table is lovely and what a brilliant idea to live stream a wedding! My sister was married in Central Park in New York and I sadly couldn’t go, I would have loved to have been able to watch it!

Thank you for joining in with #LikedandLoved 🙂

It sounds like a fab month – I’ve had a slow cooker for ages but have to confess I only ever use it to cook beef stew, I really should find some more recipes! And well done on learning to knit – I learnt when I was little but I haven’t knitted anything for ages. Sorry for the super late commenting btw 🙂 #LittleLoves
