Happy Sunday, loves! I hope you’re having a very nice weekend, wherever you are in the world!
Today is Mother’s Day in North America, so I wish all wonderful mothers (of both humans and pets) a day full of the love and peace you so deserve! 🙂
Today is also the birthday of one of my best friends, Alora.
My crazy, darling, dazzling, fabulous Alora.
Your talent never ceases to impress and inspire me. You may growl and curse when a project’s not going your way, but it always turns out wonderfully. You can eyeball something and then make it with a simple pattern you’ve drafted. Your love and your passion is in stitches and pen lines, and it’s in your eyes that can pretty much turn into lasers if need be. Your love is also in your honesty and in your wonderfully articulated advice.
You’re queen of your life, queen of being yourself and being proud of it. Striped wristwarmers, a fun hair accessory, and jangly Tripp trousers often make up your ensemble and you own it, baby. You own it. Screw anyone who doesn’t like it. You laugh like a hyena, sometimes shriek for no particular reason, and your facial expressions are as flexible as Jim Carrey’s. You make me laugh when all I want to do is break down.
You made me feel so comfortable and accepted the first time I met you, and you helped me when I needed it. You have made the effort to understand my mental illness better and you took me in when I had nowhere else to go.
You’ve come through some crappy things in your life and I love how strong you are, even if you don’t realize you are. You can turn bad situations and bad moods into something fun.
Sometimes we find you in strange places, but we don’t question it.
You are an angel and you’re a screeching devil and your adoration is raw and pure and never false. And I’m one hell of a lucky gal to be this a part of your daily life.
Happy birthday, you crazy sack of nuts. I freaking adore you.
Love and all the obnoxious glitter,
